Veneroso

Our father's great wine

Our father Pierfrancesco was a pioneer in developing the vineyards of Tenuta di Ghizzano, his innovative wines were an important contribution to a renewal in Italian winemaking. Count Venerosi Pesciolini never swam with the current. He loved his land and started producing high quality wines at a time when overproduction of grapes tended to lead to poor quality wines sold at ridiculously low prices.

He invested courageously in the vineyards and the winery, and, with the help of his friend Piermario Meletti Cavallari, he started to experiment with the native sangiovese variety as well as produce Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. His enormous commitment to the land led to VENEROSO, Ghizzano’s first “major” wine which has been produced since 1985. Although it has always been produced in small quantities, making it a niche wine, it has still managed to make a name for itself. When it first came out it was awarded 2 glasses by the Gambero Rosso guide.

To celebrate the connection of this wine with our family it carries the name of our forefather Veneroso Venerosi who was the first to plant vineyards here.
