This is the philosophy that expresses the core values that the Venerosi Pesciolini family has always held in the management of Tenuta di Ghizzano and passed on from generation to generation since 1370.

In full respect of our history and traditions, in 2003 we started our journey towards ‘natural’ organic farming, eliminating all use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and chemical fertilizers. Weeds are controlled by working the soil along the rows of vines, which also aerates the soil. We plant cover crops which fix nitrogen and improve soil quality such as broad bean, French honeysuckle and oats.

We have practiced BIODYNAMIC agriculture since 2006 applying the 500 preparation three or four times a year (in spring and autumn) and 501 (before and after flowering and whenever we think it could be important). Our staff and agronomist underwent extensive training to ensure this transition. The whole estate has been certified BIODYNAMIC by DEMETER since 2018, not just the vines but also the olive groves and cereal crops and we are members of the association “BIODINAMICA”.
