The 2023 Grape Harvest

Niche Grape Harvest

After a relatively mild winter the spring of 2023 was very rainy, especially in May and early June, this led to more vine growth than expected and favoured the development of fungal diseases which limited overall production.

A major drought lasting from mid-June, and high summer temperatures led to the smaller quantity of grapes maturing early but in a surprisingly structured and harmonious way.

Furthermore lower temperatures for a week at the beginning of August allowed the grapes to develop a complex aromatic bouquet, particularly the sangiovese and cabernet.

To conclude, 2023 has given us some complex structured whites which are sure to be well-aged, and crisp reds with high but very mature tannins and high alcohol levels.
