In 2015 there was abundant rain in the winter and the spring was dry and mild. The weather in spring which alternated between warm and windy helped stable and regular growth of the grapes.
The sprouting was much earlier than the year before, as was the flowering.
In the first part of summer temperatures rose steeply, but then stabilized in the second half of August due to two large rainfalls which allowed the vineyards to restore their balance between vegetation and production allowing the grapes to reach a perfect level of ripening.
The warm weather reduced the risk of pathogens, so it was not necessary to use too much copper sulphate and sulphur.
The harvest started in late August with the merlot, moving on to vermentino and sangiovese in the second week of September.
As always, we finished our grape harvest with the cabernet sauvignon, franc and petit verdot. The perfect health of the grapes made harvesting them quick and easy.
The quantity was a bit lower than average due to a dry July but the quality in terms of structure and phenolic maturation was fabulous.
